Look at our amazing Christmas tree. We made Christmas decorations and hung them on the Christmas tree brought to us by Mrs Gregorio. Mrs Gregorio had a lot of fun helping us put the decorations on the Christmas tree. The most challenging part was putting the string through the hole on the decorations.

2011 Room 10 Election Update
Room 10 students have been busy learning about General Election 2011 and how the voting system in New Zealand works. Last week Room 10 students worked very hard in small groups to create election posters. Each group selected a candidate and a party name and thought very carefully about the aims for their party. After that each group created a poster. The candidates have been memorising their party names and party policies(aims). This week the students will go to some classrooms to encourage students to vote their party and their candidates (leaders). Keep looking at our blog to find out who wins!

General Election
This week is about 2011 General Elections . We are using the 5Wand 1H question starters to find information about the 2011 election.Today Room 10 went for a walk around the school looking for signs about the 2011 Election. We were so excited o find 2 gigantic signs at the start of Malone Road.It was very informative . We looked at the colours, words and pictures on the signs. The signs belong to the candidates from the 2 main parties in New Zealand. We also learnt the name of our electorate MAUNGAKIEKIE.
Room 10 thinks its a very long name. The name of the MP for the labour party is the same as one of the teachers at our school -CAROL.and she came to visit us at our school this year.It was great seeing the Prime Ministers photo too.

Guy Fawkes Day
This week we have been busy performing our cultural concert so Room 10 decided to make it an art week We visualised Guy Fawkes Day . After that we did some Sgraffito art , the art of Scratching Paint.
At first we colored a white A4 paper with different coloured crayons and then we painted it with black paint. Finally we used a tooth pick to scratch the paint . We had to draw the fireworks exploding into the sky . It was fun. This is what our art work looks like. We hope you like looking at it.Monday, 7 November 2011

Tomorrow is our cultural concert day. 13 weeks of hardwork and the result is amazing. We are so excited about the concert and can't wait to perform. We are hoping that all OUR parents WILL come to watch US. Have a look at this picture taken on dress rehearsal day. To see it all in action you've got to be in our school Hall on either Tuesday or Thursday at sharp 5.30pm on both nights. It is one and a half hour long and is filled with music, singing and dancing. Please do leave us a comment on our blog with your thoughts about the concert night. See you all tomorrow night.

Diwali
Room 10's Rangoli Pattern
Today has been a Diwali Day for us.
We began the day with a big book on Diwali and discussed the following....
What is Diwali?
Who celebrates Diwali?
When is Diwali?
How is Diwali celebrated in New Zealand?
After that we learnt about Rangoli patterns.Mrs Kumar showed us some beautiful Rangoli patterns and she told us why its a pattern.
We then chose our own colours for our rangoli patterns. We had to select our colours and describe our pattern before we could colour our rangoli .

Cricket Coaching
A very special cricket coach from Ellerslie Cricket club , came to Panmure District school to coach the Year 1-3 students. He came with a lot of cricket gear and taught us some basic ball handling skills. It was a lot of fun . Well we made a discovery on his first visit and that is .... That this wonderful coach is an ex - student of Panmure District school. To find out who he is and what we did have a look at our photographs. Please do leave us a comment.
